Sparsh Behavioural Lab

Reshaping end-of-life narrative through Reflection and Research

End-of-life care in India is at a crossroads. With one of the largest populations of people living with serious illness and less than 4% accessing palliative care (Lancet,2020), the need for change is urgent. Cultural taboos, systemic gaps, and behavioral barriers keep conversations about death in the shadows. The Sparsh Behavioural Lab (SBL) is India’s first dedicated Behavioral Insights Unit
(BIU) focused on death and end-of-life care. Using evidence-based methods, we tackle deep-seated stigmas, caregiver burnout, and communication challenges—not just to reimagine care, but to reshape how Indian society thinks about death itself.

Our Mission

To enhance end-of-life experiences by advancing dialogue, research, and systemic
change. We address psychological, cultural, and institutional barriers to:
✔️ Normalize end-of-life conversations
✔️ Support caregivers and families
✔️ Advance policy integration for palliative care
